"We don't take anything from the outside"

Last night I decided to Google Dawn Nelson, the woman who called me from the "office of the President".

A few postings came up, mostly irate Wells Fargo people citing stupid things she said and did, and this article from the Des Moines Register appeared:

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20090822/BUSINESS/908220317/1029/

Note that the person who called me is referred to as a "customer service representative". Was it too much for me to expect an executive assistant, at least?

When I called her back this morning, she answered the phone "Dawn Nelson, office of the president".

I suggested she read what I wrote above, rather than asking me to invest more time in explaining it all. She asked "was this the letter you wrote to Mr. Oman?"

I told her that was a small chunk of it. I asked her if I could Email her the blog, to which she said the company does not take any incoming correspondence via Email. I then suggested I read her the URL. She told me she doesn't have a computer. (!!!!) But she said I could fax it. I made some rumbling comment about them not having Email or a computer, asking what kind of business in 2009 would still say that, and do business like that. She gave me some bullshit response about how big they were and how firewalls could not be trusted.

So I faxed it (pain in the ass), and called back a while later to make sure she got it. Her voicemail makes sure to tell me exactly where I am calling, "You have reached the office of the President. This is Dawn Nelson. Please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can."

Call me jaded, but I am thinking this office of the president thing means about as much as "we have another offer here".

Let's see.

  1. I am a small business owner in Gresham. I too have a home mortgage with Wells Fargo and have applied for the Make Homes Affordable Loans and was sent that same form letter about a moratorium of house payments.

How many of this stupid ass letters has Wells Fargo sent out? Their plan of assistance is more of a hindrance than solution to my continuous financial hardship brought on by the economy. I could only imagine what the fees and interest charges would be if I agree with this letter. (They don’t tell you what they would be in the agreement)

You know I had no problems getting this no-doc home loan 3 years ago, and I paid an extra point for it. But they don’t even want to consider the mistake they made, making this loan. I tried calling Wells Fargo to refianace back in July before applying for the Making Home Affor Program and they called me back in about 2 minutes. She told me within minutes how much my home was worth and that she would be able to make me a home equity loan with no closing cost, but when she ask me about my income I told her that my house payment was about 70% of my income at the time she almost hung-up the phone. She said I can’t help you with anything and blew me off. Talk about customer service. I wouldn’t be in busy today if I treated my customers that way.

DO YOU THINK THE REASON WHY WERE DENIED, WAS BECAUSE WERE SELF EMPLOYEED? The reason why I say that is because my son got a 5 year rewritten loan for his house,(NOT WITH WELLS FARGO) So I know of 1 person that got the help. He lost a high paying job in November and was hired 2 months later at a reduced paying competitor. So his income was reduced permantly but they knew the exact dollar amount, unlike being self-employeed. You would think there would be some smart lawyer out there looking to take on the banks and their lending practices.

I like Jeff’s Merkley’s idea (even though I did not vote for him) to give bankruptcy judges the power to readjust mortgages. Maybe this would get the banks to do their jobs.

My business is on Powell Blvd in Gresham, and if you drive down it you would see 2 grocers stores, 3 car dealership, an RV dealership and several small shopping centers empty. I count 30-40 business are gone. But, there are 2 new buildings on Burnside (prime locations on the busiest street running though Gresham. Can you guess the kind of new building? Yes banks, Wells Fargo and Key Bank. It makes me sick, that those 2 new buildings were built with my tax dollars, and the $25,000,000,000.00 plus incentives key marked for modifying the terms of home loans.

Thanks for taking the time to let David Sarasohn know what happen to you; because you are not alone, it’s happing to lots of people out there.
On Friday I call Wells again to ask about my status after declineing their stupid plan of a mortorium on my loan payment. She told me their was a shortfall of income vs debt of about $1,000 a month. Unless saless increase I'm going to have to cut my debt, (which I have no car payment or credit cards). The only debt payment left I pay for is my health insurance, which is about 1/3 of my house payment. I may loss my house but I will not lose my health insurance. She suggested I get a roomate, to increase my income. She suggest that I try to reapply in 3 months when I can close the gap in my shortfall of income vs debt. I TOLD HER THAT WHY I'M APPLYING FOR THE MAKE HOME LOANS AFFORDABLE. That why I need the loan to close the GAP.
Please let me know if I can get help through Merkley's office.
